Lesson 09 — Descriptive Statistics and Debugging

Written by Giux | Published on Nov 6, 2026 | No comments

Descriptive statistics transforms raw measurements into meaningful scientific information. In Lesson 09 of the GNU Octave with GX-TXT course, we explore mean, median, variance, standard deviation, RMS, running averages, and empirical cumulative distributions (ECDF). Through a reproducible experiment, we deliberately introduce a scientific error, diagnose it using the native Octave debugger, and publish the corrected results using GX-TXT public APIs.

GNU Octave with GX-TXT — Lesson 08: Scientific Plots and Debugging

Learn how to create scientific plots using GNU Octave and GX-TXT’s public APIs. In Lesson 08, we compare three sine-wave signals using overlaid curves and stacked panels, then explore the built-in Octave debugger to identify and fix an intentional programming error using breakpoints, local variables, and managed script execution.
